"Doc" has been a part of Red Devil football for nearly 50 years.
Dr. Pennington, Lincolnton's only physician for much of the twentieth century, played a critical role for the Red Devils. He single-handedly completed the physicals needed to clear players for practice. And he was there on the sideline each Friday night with his black bag in case his able assistance was needed.
Of course, "Doc" helped in another important way: he delivered over 300 babies during his career. And many of those grew up to be Red Devils!!!!
