Flint Matthews was an outstanding defensive player in high school and later at Georgia Southern.
Mickie McGee provided the following nomination:
I'd like to nominate Mitchell Flint Matthews to the Red Devil Hall of Fame as he was named All-American, First Team, Division 1AA by the Associated Press Division in 1987. He was a linebacker at Georgia Southern College at the time. Flint comes from a long line of Red Devil football players beginning with both his grandfathers, his father who was a star running back at Clemson, his brothers, and several cousins. His son, Mitch, is well on his way to the football field, as well. Flint coached and taught at Lincoln County HIgh School before settling on a career in the medical field.
