For the second week of the season, reinvigorated Washington-Wilkes claimed a big 33-15 over Elbert County. Losing last Friday were the fourth, fifith, and sixth ranked teams in the Class A Public Top Ten.
Grovetown, the Red Devils' next opponent, lost 35-14 to North Oconee.
In the Class A Public Top 10, top-ranked Macon County beat Dooly County 44-36. #2 Clinch County whipped #4 McIntosh County Academy 42-6. #3 Manchester beat Luella 44013. #5 ECI lost 26-7 to Swainsboro. #6 Irwin lost to Fitzgerald 31-6. #7 Commerce clawed Banks County 42-13. #8 Taylor County did not play. #9 Turner County defeated Worth County 27-13.
With losses by three teams ranked above it, #10 Lincoln County may move up a little in this week's rankings.
For other 7-A East teams, Washington-Wilkes surprised Elbert County 33-15. Aquinas beat Laney 38-12. Hancock Central lost 14-8 to Putnam County. Greene County fell to Morgan County 49-22.
For 7-A West schools, Twiggs County fell to Toombs County 38-6. Mount de Sales lost 21-8 to Howard, and First Presbyterian edged Central-Macon 17-12. Stratford Academy beat Savannah Country Day 33-14, and Tattnall Square whipped Wilcox County 49-28.
Thomson nipped Effingham County 14-13.
