Lincoln County's Red Devils caged the visitng Temple Tigers 31-10 to earn the right to host the Athens Academy Spartans in the second round of playoffs Thanksgiving weekend.
Shawntavius Jennings scored twice and rushed for 73 yards to lead the undefeated Devils to their 11th straight win. Click here for the Augusta Chronicle story.
Athens Academy pulled a mild upset over Bowdon 31-20 and became the only visiting team to win in the first round of Class A playoffs. In other words, only Athens Academy was the only third-place or fourth-place team to win Friday night.
Next weekend will be the Spartans second visit this season to Buddy Bufford FIeld. Big Red whipped Athens Academy 35-7 on September 19, but AA had some players injured for that game, but are healthier now.

Calvary Baptist, undefeated except for a few minutes this season, must travel into the swamp to Homerville to take on powerhouse Clinch County.
Twiggs County travels to Landmark Christian, or wherever the game will be played.
Miller County, a Class A power for many years, travels to Hawkinsville.
Commerce will host Bremen.
Metter will host Atkinson County.
Jefferson will travel to Trion.
Dooly County travels to Columbus to claw Pacelli, or so they think.
For other local teams, Washington-Wilkes fell to Adairsville 16-7 to end the Tigers season. Some at W-W may be feeling a bit relieved, as they would have gone to play Buford, possibly the best football team in all classes. Thomson edged Griffin and will host 5-time champion Thomas County Central in the second round.
