Answer 42: Title Road?

Many folks say that the road to the Class A football title goes through Lincolnton, since our Red Devils have been involved very often in the playoffs. Since the Devils returned to Class A in 1984, how many times has a team other than LCHS won the title without defeating our Devils in the playoffs?

ANSWER:

Only 3 times in those 20 seasons (1984-2003) has a team other than LCHS won the Class A title without defeating our Devils in the playoffs. Greg Murray was the first to answer the question and identify the three years: 2001, 1996, and 1992.
