Curt Douglas set the mark for great Devil linebackers in the late 1980's before starting for the University of Georgia.
Dwayne Simmons, himself a great defensive player that followed Curt to Athens, nominated him with these words:
This e-mail is in reference to one of the Devils' best Linebackers in the school's history. I think we would be selling ourselves short if Curt Douglas' name was not mentioned in the Hall of Heroes.
And Devil fans totally agree.
In the late 1980's Curt's outstanding play created the mold for several outstanding linebackers in the years to come. He was the first player during The Campbell Years to start at the University of Georgia, followed quickly by Simmons and Garrison Hearst in 1990. All three were in the starting lineup for several games, including the 1991 Independence Bowl. Curt and Dwayne led the 'Dawgs in sacks for the 1991 season with 4 each.
